		<title>SENATE BILL No. 458</title>
		<link>http://www.edgewaternjdems.org/p.o.v./senate-bill-no.-458-2.html</link>
		<description>At first glance, bipartisan Bill S458, sponsored by Senator Bob Smith (D) and Senator Joseph Kyrillos, Jr. (R), which proposes the consolidation of essential municipal functions by county government, seems like a good idea and a great cost cutting measure for local governments - wrong. Though the saying goes “the devil is in the details”, in this particular case, “the devil is in the lack of details”.

		<title>2010: LOOKING FORWARD</title>
		<link>http://www.edgewaternjdems.org/p.o.v./2010-looking-forward-2.html</link>
		<description>Dear Friends,

    Like most of our nation, Edgewater faced many challenges during 2009. The trickle-down effects of our weak economy, coupled with proposed changes in state and federal legislations left Edgewater and other towns with funding uncertainties.

    Nevertheless, with difficult challenges came opportunities and working collectively with my Democratic council colleagues, Edgewater has prevailed. Municipal taxes are stable; all town services remain secure and the Borough still enjoys an AA3 Bond Rating.

    The residences of Edgewater deserve a fiscally responsible and environmentally conscience government. While 2010 will be just as challenging as 2009, the Edgewater Democratic council members will work hard and continue to strive to achieve the common goals of Edgewater taxpayers.
The Coming Year:

		<title>Who we are</title>
		<link>http://www.edgewaternjdems.org/p.o.v./who-we-are.html</link>
		<description>
   The Edgewater Democratic Organization works to select and elect well qualified Democrats to municipal government positions.
      We raise funds to help campaign for chosen candidates. We help define issues and find solutions. We make helpful proposals and work to pass positive legislation.

      Edgewater Democrats are dedicated residents. Old timers and newbies. We like this town. Our old coast has become a proud part of North Jersey’s Gold Coast and we believe it will be even more of a treasure – if we ever finish building it.

      We are working with the borough’s master plan for a sustainable community, respecting smart growth and mixed land use guidelines and preserving open space. The Democratic Party has a strong work ethic. We get things done. We don’t just complain about what’s broken. We fix it. Some people only tear down. We build up.

      We are also a social organization in which friends and families meet and enjoy each other’s company. You are welcome to join us. Bring your ideas. Suggest something. Volunteer for something. Help us finish our work. </description>
