Councilwoman Neda Rose is serving her fifth term on the municipal council, of which she is past president. She is a member of the Planning Board, Grants Committee and this year’s Ferry Committee. She is also liaison to the Building Department and Fire Department.
Neda has also served on the borough’s Master Plan Committee, Oversight Committee for redevelopment of the ALCOA property, and also the River Road Task Force that widened and realigned Edgewater’s main artery.
Since moving to Edgewater in 1986, Neda founded, co-founded, proposed or sponsored many borough projects, including the 16 year old Arts Council, of which she remains president; Cultural & Historical Committee; Beautification Committee; Friends of the Edgewater Free Public Library; Children’s Playground Committee and AHOME, a program facilitating home ownership for moderate income residents. She and her late husband also volunteered to design and plant the Peace Garden in Veterans Park and the Perennial Garden in Memorial Park.
Neda is Community Relations Manager for Edgewater’s Barnes & Noble book store. She provides in-store reading programs for children and adults and conducts book talks at Senior Citizen residences and schools in the area. She is a mentor in the Eleanor Van Gelder School’s one-on-one reading program. A Sivananda trained teacher with 40 years experience, Neda also conducted free Yoga classes at the Community Center, sponsored by the Edgewater Department of Recreation.
Before moving to a historic home in Edgewater’s Third District, Neda and her late husband owned and operated a business with three stores in Miami, Florida and 86 franchises across the country. In Pittsburgh, she conducted a news and information radio talk show. In Miami, Neda hosted an on-air program for the League of Women Voters, of which she was a board member.
Before moving to Edgewater, 20 years ago, she conducted a news and information radio talk show in Pittsburgh and another in Miami, sponsored by the League of Women Voters. Before Harvey Rose retired, he and Neda owned and operated a business with three stores in Miami and 86 franchises across the country. The Roses have since settled into a historic home on Leary Lane, in Edgewater’s Third District.
During the last municipal election, Councilwoman Rose was endorsed by New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine; Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney; US Congressman Steve Rothman; New Jersey Senator Joe Coniglio; Assembly members Joan Voss and Bob Gordon.
