The Democratic Club of Edgewater presents an opportunity for ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Through community involvement in political issues, charitable projects and participation in political campaigns, our group works to improve the community in which we live.

As Democratic' we are best known for political activism and service to our communities. Our events provide a great opportunity for interaction among our membership. This interaction allows for the exchange of ideas, networking, and friendships that will last a lifetime.  Our Club provides different opportunities for different people.

We meet every fourth Thursday of every month at 7:15PM to discuss current local, county, state, and national issues. Learn about issues important to your community. Meet local officials, candidates, community leaders and people who share your philosophy. Join us and help make a difference, become better informed and a more involved citizen. Bring a friend! Make a friend!

SENATE BILL No. 458 PDF Print E-mail

At first glance, bipartisan Bill S458, sponsored by Senator Bob Smith (D) and Senator Joseph Kyrillos, Jr. (R), which proposes the consolidation of essential municipal functions by county government, seems like a good idea and a great cost cutting measure for local governments - wrong.  Though the saying goes “the devil is in the details”, in this particular case, “the devil is in the lack of details”.

2010: LOOKING FORWARD PDF Print E-mail

Dear Friends,

Like most of our nation, Edgewater faced many challenges during 2009.  The trickle-down effects of our weak economy, coupled with proposed changes in state and federal legislations left Edgewater and other towns with funding uncertainties.

Nevertheless, with difficult challenges came opportunities and working collectively with my Democratic council colleagues, Edgewater has prevailed.  Municipal taxes are stable; all town services remain secure and the Borough still enjoys an AA3 Bond Rating.

The residences of Edgewater deserve a fiscally responsible and environmentally conscience government. While 2010 will be just as challenging as 2009, the Edgewater Democratic council members will work hard and continue to strive to achieve the common goals of Edgewater taxpayers.
